Privacy Policy
The short version
- Your records stay on your device. The app has no accounts, no server of ours and no cloud storage.
- We do not collect, receive, sell or share your data. There are no analytics, advertising or tracking tools in the app.
- Your backups, PDFs and exports go only where you save or send them.
- The app does need an internet connection occasionally to download its open-source tools; see section 5.
1. Who this policy covers
This policy explains how the Business Manager app handles information. The app is provided by [YOUR NAME OR BUSINESS NAME], [YOUR ADDRESS] (“we”, “us”). Questions can be sent to [YOUR CONTACT EMAIL].
2. What information the app handles
Only what you type in or add yourself, such as:
- Your business details: name, address, phone, email, VAT and company numbers, bank details printed on invoices, and your National Insurance number if you choose to enter it for Making Tax Digital figures.
- Your customers’ and suppliers’ names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses.
- Quotes, invoices, receipts, credit notes, expenses, assets, drawings, mileage trips, bank statement lines you import, purchase orders, time entries, calendar jobs and your insurance and compliance dates.
- Photos you attach, such as receipts, supplier bills and certificates, and a logo if you add one.
- A change history (the “audit log”) recording what was created, changed or deleted in your records. Photos and your National Insurance number are not copied into it.
All of this is stored only on your device. We never see it.
3. What we collect
Nothing. The app does not ask you to sign in, does not send your records to us or anyone else, does not use cookies, and contains no analytics, advertising or crash-reporting services.
The app does not use your location. It asks for access to your camera or photo library only when you choose to attach a photo, and for files only when you choose to import or save one.
4. Where your information is stored
- On your device, in the app’s private storage (the browser database on your phone or computer). It stays there until you delete it.
- In backup files you create. A backup is an ordinary file saved where you choose, for example Files or iCloud Drive. Once saved there, it is protected by that service’s own security and privacy terms, not by this app. Keep backups somewhere safe: they contain your customers’ details.
- In documents you send. PDFs, CSV files, spreadsheets and the accountant’s package are created on your device. If you share one by email, WhatsApp, AirDrop or any other route, the recipient and that service then hold a copy.
5. Connections the app makes
| When | What happens |
|---|---|
| The app starts or updates | Your device downloads the app’s files from the web address it was installed from. The company hosting that address ([YOUR HOSTING PROVIDER, e.g. Cloudflare Pages]) can see ordinary web-request details such as your IP address and browser type, as for any website. Your business records are never part of these requests. |
| First use, while online | The app downloads four open-source tools (PDF, spreadsheet and zip libraries) from the cdnjs content network run by Cloudflare. That request shows your IP address and browser type to that network. The tools are then saved on your device so the app works offline. |
| You enter a logo web address | The app fetches that image from the address you gave. Nothing else is sent. |
| You tap WhatsApp, email, a map link or Share | The text, address or file you chose is handed to that app or service (for example WhatsApp or Google Maps). What they do with it is covered by their own policies. |
Nothing else leaves your device.
6. How your information is used
Only to run the features you use inside the app: producing documents, working out totals, VAT and Making Tax Digital figures, reminders and forecasts, all calculated on your device. The app prepares figures for you or your accountant; it does not submit anything to HMRC or any other authority.
7. If you hold other people’s information
When you store your customers’ or suppliers’ details, you decide why and how they are used, so under UK data protection law you are normally the one responsible for that information. This app does not change that. Keep only what you need, keep it secure, and tell your customers how you use their details (for example in your own terms or privacy notice). We do not receive that information and are not a processor of it.
8. Keeping and deleting your information
- You can edit or delete any record in the app at any time. The audit log records that a change happened, by design, and cannot be edited inside the app.
- Removing the app, clearing the site’s data in your browser, or resetting the app deletes everything held on the device.
- Backups and exports you have already saved or sent are not removed by this. Delete those yourself if you no longer want them.
9. Security
Your information is protected by your device’s own security: your passcode or Face ID, device encryption, and the app’s isolation from other apps and websites. The app does not add a separate password. Use a passcode, keep your system updated, and protect your backup files. If someone can unlock your device, they can open the app.
10. Children
The app is a business tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone.
11. Your rights
Because we hold none of your records, we cannot look up, correct or delete them for you; you can do all of that yourself in the app. If you contact us about your information, or about anything in this policy, we will answer. In the UK you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office: ico.org.uk.
12. Changes to this policy
If the app changes in a way that affects your privacy (for example, if cloud sync or analytics were ever added), this policy will be updated first and the date above changed. Any such feature would be optional and explained clearly before it was used.
